I am a busy guy so I like message that are simple and to the point. The first thing I picked up is "DON'T VOTE" and then "I'll wait for you to sign up to vote".
How effective is this video? Not really effective! Human mind can remember first and last part of any thing presented. People rarely remember the middle part.
I suggest making it a one to two minutes video and get to the point!
With that said, I'm register to vote. What about you?
I kind of loved it. And now I am going to make my students watch it!! By the way, I feel that I should come clean and start a list of all the things I have totally stolen from Louis for my own classes because they are awesome. so far:
1. Spontaneous hoe downs. 2. That circle get to know you game thing 3. I might make them make stupid faces at eachother. 4. Blog usage. 5. And now, the Dont Vote video.
not a US citizen so can't vote...but thought the clip was good & catchy. If you can vote I really don't see why you wouldn't, hey if you don't want to vote for yourself you could vote for me or Chihiro ;).
Ha ha. I actually saw this video online yesterday! maybe it is spreading exponential!
I'm totally registered to vote, but one thing that amazes me is the igonorance of some people's voting power!!... I work with a person who was actually just going to vote for Hilary because she was a woman but she knew nothing about Hilary's proposals or ideas....
I think yeah you gotta vote, but take the time to vote for what you think is right, issues that impact you.... which is everything...
ya...don't vote if you...don't care. Very true! The vid was pretty long but well worth it i think. I registered....four years ago i think? Can't complain if you don't vote.
Did you know that in the last presidential election in Australia there was a 95% turn out? Why? It's illegal NOT to vote and carries a fine of $500.
The hardest thing about voting is really the time to become educated in the issues. But it's hard as a student! Tests, homework, classes, projects, work. I'm only taking dance classes and I still have a hard time finding the time to learn about the issues! So McCain is a former POW, or Palin is a women or Obama is black, or one is democrat and the other republican...those are not reasons to vote for one or another. It's knowledge of the issues, not the candidates.
Don't forget about the other parties, the libertarians, or the people running as independent!! Just cause they aren't running in a party or on tv or have the money to campaign doesn't mean they aren't just as qualified to be president!
So I saw this video a little while ago. I thought the sarcasm was funny and they were all telling you not to vote but it was a little long for what it was. I think if they shortened it a bit it would be more effective. Although this video actually wouldn't sway me to vote if I was even unsure about voting. I don't think it was effective in the thought of persuading people to vote although it was humorous.
Wow! I didn't realize this video was on the blog site until now. I thought this was really interesting in that celebrities were used to convey this message. I also thought that it was interesting that they chose to focus on certain issues, like Obama's, althought they didn't explicity cite him, health care plan. The video was very productive in that it gave the viewer a direct opportunity to register to vote. I thought it seemed to be focused primarily towards younger, socially liberal voters. I think this video was an excellent idea in trying to encourage American citizens to vote. In light of it's intentions, I wonder how many people it affected.
